Luke Littler has taken the darts world by storm at Alexandra Palace this week and Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor has inspired the 16-year-old sensation to advance to the World Darts Championship.

Never before has anyone of any age experienced a level of nervousness when stepping onto the famous Oche for the PDC World Darts Championship.

But Littler showed no signs that the occasion was about to dawn on him, defeating former Lakeside World Champion Christian Kist 3–0 on his debut and finishing with a tournament-high average of 106.12.

He is the second youngest person to win a match in the tournament and the record is likely to be broken as darts get their next superstar.

Taylor was told by those close to him to “wait until you see this young boy” that he was unaware of Littler’s talent on the youth circuit.

But as soon as the darts legend started watching Littler play, he became completely enthralled with the teenager being the game’s next star and loved every minute of his debut at Alexandra Palace.

Taylor exclusively revealed, “He was fantastic. And I love it.” gb news,

“I mean, the crowd was right with him, weren’t they saying ‘You’ve got to go to school in the morning’!

“It was brilliant. He’s 16 and he’s got the chance to make £500,000 here. I think he’s absolutely brilliant.”

Power doesn’t think Littler, who has gone from 50-1 to 12-1 to win the tournament, is “feeling the pressure” and is taking everything in his stride.

Taylor, who has won a record 16 world titles, knows better than most how to handle himself on the big stage.

The 63-year-old lists the two main qualities required in a darts player to become a world champion – belief and dedication.

And Taylor has no doubt that Littler has a lot in his locker to try and win this year’s championship.

“I can see that he’s dedicated. And I can also see that look in his eyes that he wants to win, those are two things you definitely need.

“And I honestly believe he thinks he can go and win tournaments and I completely agree with him.”
