Aryna Sabalenka has broken her own rule about her family after defeating Qianwen Zheng to win the Australian Open on Saturday morning.
The 25-year-old won 6-3, 6-2 to defend the title he won 12 months ago.
Sabalenka did not lose a single set during the entire tournament and now leads the tennis world after becoming the first woman since Victoria Azarenka to defend the title in Australia.
Speaking after her win, the tennis star said she doesn’t like to discuss her family publicly whenever she claims a title.

But Sabalenka decided to break her own rule by thanking him for his support.
“I’ve never talked about my family in victory speeches before, but I want to say thank you for everything they’ve done for me,” she said.
“I love you so much and you are my biggest inspiration and everything I do is for you. I send you love and I really miss you so much.”
“To the crowd, thank you very much for the support these two weeks.
“I really enjoy playing in front of you and that’s what makes this place special. I love you so much and I can’t wait to come back.”
Sabalenka also paid tribute to her team.
“The team – wow. You see guys, I put a bit of pressure on them in the Brisbane final and we did a bit better in that one,” he joked.
“Thank you so much for being there for me no matter what. I wouldn’t have been able to achieve so much in my game without you.”
“You wouldn’t be as good without me, so let’s accept that fact (smiling).
“It’s been an amazing two weeks lifting this trophy once again, and I’m truly speechless.
“As usual my speech will be awkward, it’s not my superpower but I’ll try my best.”
Sabalenka also displayed a touch of class by wishing Zheng all the best for the future.
The Chinese star was unable to cope with her opponent’s talent, and the pressure seemed to be getting to her.
However, Sabalenka is confident that Zheng will bounce back and play in more Grand Slams in the future.
“First of all I want to thank Ivonne [Goolagong] Thank you so much for being such an inspiration to all of us and it is my pleasure to receive this beautiful trophy from you,” she said.

“I know this feeling. It’s really hard to lose in a final but you are such an incredible player and such a young girl, you will go to many more finals and you will achieve this. Congratulations to you and your team are doing amazing .
“Thank you to everyone who makes this tournament happen – Tennis Australia, the Australian Government and everyone who helped me over these two weeks.”
Meanwhile, Zheng is also confident that she will continue to perform well in the future after a stellar Australian Open campaign.
She said, “First of all I want to congratulate you Arya – you had a great match here.”
